The Wales Post Office, located in the Demerara River West Bank Postal District, was possibly opened on September 16, 1877, after being transferred from Belle Vue. It was upgraded to a money order office on April 17, 1883. Although the office was later moved to Sisters Village, its name remained “Wales” to avoid confusion with the existing Sisters Post Office in Berbice.
