British Guiana Post Offices: Unknown

The following are the Date Stamps used at an Unknown Post Office with EKD prior to 22 January 1901, the day marking the end of the reign of Queen Victoria. The Bel-Air Circular Date Stamp (C.D.S) is a Panda Type E5 postmark.  The Panda Type E5 is Double Ring (D.R.), 22.5-24mm, 2 line date (2 L.D.) with year abbreviated (Y.A.).  Colony not shown.

The Panda Type E4.3-3 is cataloged as Type 3a was used first at Bel-Air, then Kitty, then at an Unknown Post Office in 1898. It is listed as “Scarce” in The Postage Stamps and Postal History of British Guiana by Townsend & Howe. In The Postal History of British Guiana by Edward B. Proud, he notes “Used elsewhere? in (22.6.98)” p. 199.

The Boerasirie Circular Date Stamp (C.D.S) is a Panda Type E5 postmark.  The Panda Type E5 is Double Ring (D.R.), 22.5-24mm, 2 line date (2 L.D.) with year abbreviated (Y.A.).  Colony not shown.

The Panda Type E5.5-2 is cataloged as Type 3a and used at an unknown Post Office as this usage was after the closure of the Boerasirie Post Office. It is listed as “Very Scarce” in The Postage Stamps and Postal History of British Guiana by Townsend & Howe.

The EKD strike of 8 Oct 1893 is in the Panda Collection. See image below. The LKD is used from Townsend & Howe and it notes “after closure of office” (p. 300).
