
The Leguan Post Office, situated on Leguan Island in the Essequibo Estuary, was opened in 1850 as a Receiving House at the local police station. It was upgraded to a District Post Office in 1860 and moved to the Telegraph Office on May 1, 1877. The post office became a money order office on November 1, 1880.
The Leguan Post Office served the Essequibo Estuary Postal District and has alternated between locations in Maryville and Enterprise, although the details of this alternation remain unclear.
