British Guiana Post Offices: Kitty

Kitty, East Coast Demerara

The Kitty Post Office, located in the East Coast Demerara Postal District, was opened on May 1, 1895, after being transferred from Bel Air. Initially situated on David Street, Kitty Village, the post office was upgraded to a money order office on April 1, 1909, and subsequently moved to Lot 156, Thomas Street, Kitty Village, in July 1909.

On August 1, 1929, it was downgraded to a postal agency at the railway station. The Kitty Post Office was later upgraded again to a post office on May 16, 1939, and relocated to a new building at Lot 36, Alexander & Pike Streets on December 4, 1939.
