The No. 51 Village Post Office, was moved from No. 50 Village after the closure of the police station. However, there is some discrepancy among sources: Proud suggests it was “reopened later at No. 51,” while Townsend & Howe (T&H) and Nathan indicate it “became” No. 51. Despite the change in designation, the postmarks continued to reference No. 50 until 1966.
The following are the Date Stamps used at No. 51 Village with EKD prior to 22 January 1901, the day marking the end of the reign of Queen Victoria. In addition to listing the Panda Type #, for reference, we also list the T&H Type from The Postage Stamps and Postal History of British Guiana by Townsend & Howe and the Type and referenced page from The Postal History of British Guiana by Edward B. Proud.
