
The Bagotville Post Office was located on the West Bank of the Demerara River, 4 miles north of Georgetown, within the Demerara River West Bank Postal District. On 1 January 1880, the office was transferred to the Telegraph Office, and later that same year, on 1 October, it moved to St. Thomas’ School House, with Mr. B.J. Jack serving as District Postmaster. In 1892, J.E. Adams was the Postmaster, and the office was upgraded to a money order office in 1899. Mr. G. King became Postmaster in May 1953. It initially used the DRW coded postmark.
