The Albouystown Post Office was located in the Georgetown Postal District, in the ward between Sussex Street and Plantation La Penitence, bordered by the river and the backdam. It first opened on 1 November 1887 at the premises of Mr. W.B. Kerr, No.1 Albouystown, La Penitence, with a letterbox erected for mail collection. In 1892, J.F. de Vries served as Postmaster.
The office was moved to the Medical Hall at the corner of High and Broad Street, Charlestown, on 9 March 1894. On 19 April 1894, it returned to Lot No.3 Albouystown (Manuel de Freitas) and then relocated again on 21 June 1897 to a nearby lot (J. Muir). It later moved to Messrs. Curtis Campbell’s compound on 1 June 1941.
On 1 May 1903, Albouystown was upgraded to a money order office, and by 1 June 1903, it became a savings bank office. The post office was transferred to Charlestown on 2 December 1963, though Albouystown postmarks continued to be used at Charlestown after the transfer.
