The Belfield Post Office, located 16 miles from Georgetown on the East Coast of Demerara, began as a Receiving House in 1850 at Mr. E. Glover’s in Victoria. By 1856, it had moved to Belfield, and on May 1, 1860, it was established at the local police station. On June 1, 1877, the post office was relocated to Mr. L. Fernandes’ store in Victoria Village, Belfield, and became a money order office on January 1, 1884.
The Belfield Post Office remained active until 1951, when its operations were transferred to the Cove and John Post Office.
